While perusing Facebook today I came across an InStyle "Do or Don't" post about wearing shorts in the winter. I was excited to see this because it's a style that I have been tempted to try out. While shopping I continue to come across cute tweed and wool shorts and am always kicking myself later for not buying them.
My hesitation comes from the fact that it's a look that must be done just right. I think that it works best if the shorts are in a fall/winter fabric like wool, tweed or leather. I have seen some try to do the look with denim shorts and it can easily seem like you are season strayed. Also, you must be sure to pair the shorts with the perfect pair of stockings. The wrong color combinations can look choppy and unflattering. If you are more daring you can spice up solid color short with stockings that have a subtle print like polkadots. As for on top it is best to keep things simple and accessorize with statement jewelry or your favorite handbag. A simple winter bootie, heel or flat that doesn't stick out too much against the stockings works best in the shoe department.
I definitely give winter shorts my vote and hope to try them out this season, what about you?
